General Guidelines for Weir Baptist Camps

Updated 2022 - all camping sessions

WEIR BAPTIST CAMP IS A CHRISTIAN CAMP. The purpose is to introduce young lives to Christ and encourage them to grow as Christians. All activities and dress must be of a nature that does not detract from the purpose of the camp. The way we act and dress will be a testimony to our Lord.

If the following basic guidelines are broken, the camper/sponsor/guest may be asked to leave the camp, and the parents or church will be responsible for providing transportation from camp.

  • All campers are responsible to any camp sponsor, camp administration personnel, or staff.

  • All individuals and groups must remain inside their cabins after “lights out” unless they are escorted by a sponsor or staff.

  • Campers are expected to remain for the full camping session and attend all classes, activities, and worship services unless ill. All illness must be reported to the First Aid Station personnel.

  • Dress is not to distract from the purpose or testimony of the camp. All groups including guests shall adhere to the dress code for the camp.

    • All shirts and dresses must have sleeves and cover the front and back of the trunk of your body. No back, belly, or shoulders showing. No tank tops. This applies to girls and boys.

    • Jeans, slacks, or modest shorts shall be worn during the day. Bike shorts must have other shorts worn over them. Dresses for girls and slacks/nice shorts for boys are encouraged at worship services.

    • Shoes must be worn at all times.

    • Clothing advertising secular music groups, tobacco, alcohol, and/or drugs, or offensive words or phrases are not allowed at any time.

    • Junior/Senior High campers need swim wear. All swim wear will be worn under appropriate T-shirt and shorts during pool time or water activities. Everyone is to wear a cover-up (T-shirt and shorts) to and from water activities. Old clothes are best for the water slide and a beach towel is nice to have. If any member of the staff asks you to change clothes, please do so without complaining.

  • There will be no possession or use of illegal drugs, alcohol, or tobacco on camp property.

    • Without exception, ALL medications, prescriptions, and non-prescriptions, will be given to the First Aid Station personnel upon arrival at camp.

    • Prescription and non-prescription medication will then be dispensed by the First Aid Station personnel.

    • Immediate expulsion will result from any violation of these medical rules.

  • Those needing a special diet should notify the Food Supervisor concerning the type of diet needed. DO NOT BRING ANY SNACK FOODS!

  • NO electronic devices on campus. This includes: radios, ipods, MP3 players, CD/tape players, video games, computers, tablets, cell phones, etc. If you or your parent needs to make contact, you may use the camp phone for short calls. The number at the Weir Baptist Camp Office is 620-396-8744.

  • NO camper will bring fireworks, firearms, or weapons of any kind to camp.

  • NO camper will be permitted in or on the water or allowed to fish in the ponds, use canoes or kayaks, without adult supervision.

  • NO person under the age of 18 will drive a vehicle on the camp grounds.

  • NO ONE leaves the camp without signing out and no one returns without signing in at the Camp Office. We need to always know who is on campus at any time.

  • Boys are not permitted in or around the girls’ cabins and girls are not permitted in or around the boys’ cabins except during scheduled camp activities. The Administration Building is for sponsors and staff. Campers are not allowed in the Administration Building except to use the bathroom facilities, see the First Aid Station personnel, or sign in or out of camp, or for scheduled small group times.

  • Bullying will not be tolerated. Any incident of bullying must be reported to the Camp Manager, Camp Director, and Sponsor. Appropriate action will be taken.

  • All disciplinary problems (including bullying) will be handled by the Camp Directors, Administrator, Camp Manager, pastor, and adult sponsors in a corporate effort to resolve the problem. If the problem cannot be resolved, parents will be requested to come to the camp for a consultation with the Camp Director, and if necessary they will be asked to remove the camper from the campus. No refunds for dismissed campers.

  • All rules are subject to addition or change per camp administration.
